CUPE congratulates NDP leader Jagmeet Singh on historic win in Burnaby South

Jagmeet Singh, Mark Hancock and Charles FleuryThe Canadian Union of Public Employees is sending heartfelt congratulations to NDP leader Jagmeet Singh, who will take his seat in the House of Commons after winning a by-election in Burnaby South on Monday night.

“Canadians are looking for action to safeguard our planet for future generations and to make life more affordable, and with Jagmeet Singh, they have a dedicated and tireless leader on their side,” said CUPE National President Mark Hancock.

Prior to his appearance on the federal scene, Jagmeet Singh worked as a defence lawyer before serving as the deputy leader of the Ontario NDP.

“Jagmeet understands that working Canadians need strong public services, and they need action on issues like pharmacare,” said CUPE National Secretary-Treasurer Charles Fleury. “We look forward to seeing him continue to fight for them in the House.”
